A Maine Central Railroad hat badge made for a generic employee. Some believe that custodians at Portland wore this style of badge. I just know it is not common. This is known as an MEC "rectangle" style badge. About 4" wide and curved back to fit on a hat. The railroad name is spelled out in all capital letters. It is standard to omit the word "Railroad" on this style of MEC badge. There is some denting to the gentle curve that you usually see. I added a pic to show that it is not perfect.
